Played in Louis Armstrong's 1928/29 bands - both his big band and the resurrected Hot Five. By then Armstrong had begun moving into a smoother swing style, but the band was still more than capable of doing some real down-to-earth blues when needed.
Mancy Carr was also occasionally featured as a singer with Armstrong.
