Musical instruments classification is not an exact science, so don't take this as the one and only absolute truth. Some experts may classify the instruments differently, some may include other instruments in the family, some may use other criteria to define different banjo types. In addition to the banjo family, this list also includes a couple of other instruments that I thought might be interesting to the blues banjoist for various reasons: Some becasue they are hybrids between banjos and members of other families, some becasue they could be interesting as secondary instruments, some because they may be confused with the banjo bcause of looks or name.
