Re: Chicago tuning

I use the "Chicago Tuning" regular on both tenor & plectrum...I also play guitar and double bass...The "Chicago" tuning is probably least restrictive...I can sound like a 5 string on country stuff, or Freddy Green on big band stuff...And...Often do Celtic gigs without changing to the Irish tuning...I settled on this tuning because of the different instruments I play...And any good guitar book will help you...In addition you have to listen to the music styles that you prefer...Banjo tunings...As...Guitar tunings become a matter of taste somewhat dictated by what you are doing...

> > Are there other players who use this tuning?

I've been toying around with it now and then but don't use it regularly. Have to keep my tenors in GDAE-tuning for the Irish stuff and besides I have a really nice little short scale guitar-banjo to use for the stuff that require DGBE-tuning.

Sorry, don't know of any tutorial for it.

Should be a few lessons here at blues-banjo.com and probably elsewhere on the web as well. And of course there's lots of guitar stuff you can play.
